What can I do about hair loss?
Today, there are more options than ever for men who want to do something about their male pattern hair loss.

Some of these options include:
• Hairpieces to help you cover it up
• Hair transplantation
• Over-the-counter scalp treatments
• Propecia a prescription pill that lowers DHT, an apparent cause of hair loss

Doctor Bauman uses a combination of surgical and medical techniques

What Science has learned about hair loss?
Mild to moderate male pattern hair loss affects about 50% of men by age 50. Propecia®, available only by prescription, is an exciting weapon in the battle against male pattern hair loss.

Scientists have discovered that men with male pattern hair loss have an increased level of DHT in their balding scalps. Leading scientists believe that an increased level of DHT affects the hair growth cycle, contributing to the thinning hair on the scalp.

Propecia® blocks the formation of DHT and in this way appears to interrupt a key factor in the development of inherited male pattern hair loss in men. Significantly, Propecia® helps grow natural hair—not just "peach fuzz"—and is as convenient to take as a vitamin: one pill a day.

Propecia® was developed to treat male pattern hair loss in the vertex (at top of the head) and anterior mid-scalp area. Propecia® is for use by men only and should not be used by women.

Can Propecia® help maintain my hair count?
Propecia® is proven to maintain or increase hair count in most men. It’s the medical breakthrough men have been waiting for. In clinical studies of men 18 to 41 with mild to moderate hair loss, hair count was maintained in those men taking Propecia®, while men taking a placebo (a pill with no medication) continued to show progressive hair loss.

Propecia® begins to block the formation of DHT almost immediately. However, because hair grows slowly, visible results from Propecia® take some time. Most men may begin to see the first benefit of Propecia®--slowing their hair loss—as early as three months.
